The main objective of this note is to describe and discuss some recent research areas surrounding the investigation into Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the tourism phenomenon. Due to the increase in computing power in recent years, the progress of automated solutions in all productive activities has accelerated dramatically, transforming all social life as we know it. As never before, we are witnessing an unusual interest in this technological phenomenon, trying to understand not only the practical implications but also the social effects derived from greater interaction between humans and their machines. Despite the enormous relevance of this topic, so far, the related research carried out in Latin America is quite limited; therefore, we consider it necessary to give visibility to these potential areas of study. We hope that this information is useful for people with an interest in the subject, and, from there, research proposals to be generated around this topic ultimately published by the Dimensiones Turísticas journal in the short term.
