Abstract

An analytical review of the abundant academic production on organizational and administrative theories that have been developed from 1970 to 2014 to explain and frame the studies of tourism enterprises and their relationship with the natural environment and sustainable development is presented. The main finding shows that the mainstream focuses on corporate social responsibility theories (CSR) and is framed in a positivist approach while other theoretical philosophical approaches were identified.
