This text seeks to synthesize the ideas expressed by anthropologist Anna Pacheco in her latest book entitled I was here and remembered us. A story about tourism, work, and class, which narrates her findings and reflections that arose after an ethnographic investigation in three “luxury” hotels in Barcelona. Her initial intention was to understand the work dynamics of hotel workers in a tourist-oriented city, but as she delved deeper into the field she discovered that, through these same workers, she could access larger problems and reflections on the global tourism phenomenon.
